About — The Nakshara
About — Nakshara

Made by hand,
made to last.

An atelier in Pune, India, making watch straps the slow way — one at a time, to order.

Our workshop
Our first prototype
Our Story

It started with a frustration, not a business plan.

The Nakshara began with a simple belief: a watch strap shouldn't be an afterthought. It should be made with the same care as the timepiece it holds.

What started as a personal pursuit — sourcing the right hides, learning hand-stitching, testing finishes that age well instead of falling apart — became something worth sharing with others who feel the same way.

Every strap that leaves our workshop is made to order. No assembly lines, no shortcuts. Just leather, thread, and time.

— Founder, The Nakshara

From hide to wrist,
nothing is rushed.

Each strap is made only once it's ordered. It's slower than buying off a shelf — but it means what arrives wasn't sitting in a warehouse.

01

Select

Hides sourced from India and abroad — alligator-embossed calf, suede, full-grain — chosen for grain, depth, and how they'll age over years of wear.

02

Cut

Each strap is cut by hand to pattern, not stamped in batches. Tapering and symmetry are checked piece by piece.

03

Stitch

Tight, even saddle-stitching done by hand — stronger and longer-lasting than a single machine line.

04

Finish

Edges burnished, finish checked by hand, then dispatched — roughly 7 business days from order to your door.

Material

Leathers sourced from India and around the world, selected for grain and longevity, not just appearance.

Method

Hand-cut, hand-stitched. No factory lines, no shortcuts taken to speed up an order.

Made to Order

Nothing is pre-made. Every strap is built after you place your order — about 7 business days to your door.

Why It Matters

A strap touches your wrist more than almost anything else you own.
